Patio Storage And Outdoor Living
Patio Storage And Outdoor Living
Patio storage and organization is crucial if you want a tranquil outdoor living space.
I Love spring! Everything is coming back to life and it recharges my batteries to shake off my winter hibernation. My favorite thing is to go outside in the mornings to drink my coffee under the covered patio and watch the humming birds fighting for their rights to the many feeders
my husband and I put out. The pool is now uncovered and my Knock out roses are bursting with blooms. Ahh, I could live out here.
Did you know that you’re patio or deck is actually an extension of your home? Let’s make it inviting and organized. A well put together outdoor living space, screams family time! However with my large family (9 grandchildren), even the most peaceful environment can become chaotic and messy, if their is not a plan for patio storage. Examples of my patio storage: Pool toys are a major contributor to creating a mess. We have a iron bakers rack to house some of our patio storage. The bottom shelf has a large plastic bin with holes on the sides and bottom which house the small outdoor toys. The holes help them to air dry properly between use. On another shelf I have a pretty water proof container that holds sunscreen & lotions. I try to get everyone to bring their own towel when they come, however I will supply a few neatly folded on a shelf just in case one is needed. As simple as this seems, just this small amount of patio storage and organization, lets your visitors know that you appreciate any effort they make to keep it that way.
At Gammy’s and Poppy’s house, our children and grandchildren know to pick everything up and put everything back in it’s place before leaving. We never have to say a word, they just know. Train ‘em early
For pool float storage check out this great selection of products. For a huge selection of floats and toys see the attached page “Pool Floats and Toys.”
If you desire to create organized patio storage that is practical and attractive, you have come to the right place.
In order to determine the best patio storage for you, use the same strategies as we do with an indoors see ORGANIZING BASICS and let’s get it cleaned and uncluttered. You need some comfortable yet outdoor friendly furniture that is inviting. Using dual purpose pieces such as patio storage boxes that can double as a coffee table or extra seating, is a great way to cut down on clutter. Designate patio storage for toys, Grilling supplies, pool floats, etc. Just as inside your house, everything outside needs to have a place too. Don’t forget to put your style into the mix like an outdoor rug and some colorful potted plants.
I will leave you with this thought: Our front yard reflects how we want others to see us (Public image). However, our back yard reflects our inner self. Now go fix up your back yard and plant some flowers that only you can see.
Important note: Let’s Get Organized is not like the other blogs. I am very up front about selling products on my site. I work from home helping you! I am a professional organizer with a heart to help others, by blogging about what I know. Most blogs hide what they are selling to make it look like they are not trying to sell it. That is not me and there are no secrets here.

Organizing Your Bathroom
Organizing Your Bathroom
Want to take a bubble bath? Light some candles and have a glass of wine? Sounds wonderful except for one thing, the bathroom in a mess and you know that you won’t be able to relax while looking at the overflowing laundry hamper, the cluttered vanity and the Barbie dolls and action figures lining the side of the tub with a ring around it. I am here to help you with organizing your bathroom and to reclaim this space to not only function as it should but to also to provide you with that private retreat for when you need a break.
It’s funny how most people will keep their guest bath presentable for the unexpected visitor while their own private bathroom is a disaster. It reminds me of something that I learned years ago: Your front yard is what you present to the world, your public image so to speak, it is what you want others to think of you. However, your back yard tells a whole different story. Your back yard reflects your inner self, your self worth or the lack there of. It reveals whether or not you value yourself and if you take care of yourself. Your back yard should be an oasis with more flowers than your front yard. Why? Because you deserve it, that’s why! Your master bath is like your back yard! Put yourself on the list and start taking care of YOU!!!
Our bathrooms can be very hectic in the mornings especially if you share it with someone else. If your bathroom is organized properly, it will function better and provide a peaceful and more productive morning. So, let’s take a look around…
Your vanity top should not be where you keep your toiletries (hair spray, shaving cream, lotions, makeup, etc. It should be clear of clutter and only display items that coordinate with your bathroom’s décor. I have learned that you can have décor that doubles as storage. Let’s take your makeup for example; what do you actually use on a daily basis? If you are like most women you purchase new things only later to decide they are not right for you and instead of getting rid of them you just add to your hoard. I suggest that you have a daytime makeup kit and an evening makeup kit. Let’s face it, who likes to go rummaging through a million eye shadows just to find the one you wear on a regular basis? So down size your “daily” items into one small cosmetic bag or small stackable containers
with lids. I have a decorative basket with a lid on it to house my daytime make up. It sits right on top of my vanity and it goes well with my décor. What do I have in it? This is all you will find: One foundation, one blush, mascara, eyelash curler, two different eye shadows, one eye liner, two shades of lip gloss and two different makeup brushes. That is it! So when I get ready in the mornings, I don’t have to dig and it really saves me time. If I am going out, I have another cosmetic bag that keeps my products for an evening look which I combine with some of my daily items. Since I don’t get out much, I don’t want to dig through everything just to find my mascara.
If you really think about it, you use different products for different activities, for example: You have specific products that are just for washing your face and facial skin care. The same goes for hair care and oral hygiene. Instead of having all of these products cluttered together, compartmentalize them according to activity. Creating a container for each one will save you time and frustration. Plus it looks great. I am a big fan of using adjustable drawer dividers or junk drawer organizer
s in the bathroom. And under the cabinets, use kitchen cabinet organizers
to save space.
For shower and bath products there are many products to help with shower organization. But take out everything that you don’t use everyday. Why have 3 different kinds of shampoo in the shower? If you share your bath with kids that like to play with toys, you will need bath organizers
to keep toys well ventilated as they dry.
Utilize your sorting bins see ORGANIZING BASICS and get rid of everything that you don’t use. If you have travel size items that you only use for traveling, make a container specifically for travel. Label it accordingly and put away. This will free up much needed space for the items you use everyday. Keep everyday items in the front and others towards the back of the cabinet. Just like the rest of your house, everything needs a place in order to be organized. But you have to put it back in order to keep it that way!
Clean and sanitize your bathroom before putting your sorted items away. Clean inside and outside of your cabinets and put down fresh shelf and drawer liners. Does your bathroom require a shower curtain? If so, take down the plastic liner and wash in the washing machine with bleach to get rid of any mold. Always have an extra shower liner to put up while washing the other. I like the Extra Heavy VINYL Shower Curtain Anti-Bacterial – with Clear Top
because they hold up better to repeated washings.
A trick to keeping your bathroom clean: Make a mini cleaning kit to keep in the cabinet. Use mini spray bottles and containers that can be easily refilled. Always keep a roll of paper towels. Use Bounty paper towels to clean instead of rags that need to be washed. You can scrub with cleanser and they don’t fall apart. When done, just throw away. This also helps prevent transfer of germs to another area of the house. You will be encouraged to clean more often knowing that the supplies that you need are right there. Having a mini cleaning kit in each bathroom makes quick clean ups easier especially if you have unexpected guest. Just excuse yourself for a moment and spruce it up. They will never know. For the sake of children, make sure they are stored in a child proof cabinet.
I love apothecary jars
for bath salts, scrubs and soaps. These can be beautiful and easily cleaned.
Below you will find some beautiful pictures for inspiration!
Clean, fresh and organized! Ahhhhhh

Organizing Your Bedroom
Organizing your bedroom will directly impact your sense of well being. Our bedroom is our most private and personal home sanctuary. It’s the place where you start your day and finish your day. It should be relaxing and stress free. Studies have shown that what you’re thinking about when you go to sleep effects how you sleep and your mood when you wake up. So if your last mental image is of chaos and clutter, you’re not setting the stage for quality sleep.
Doctors who treat sleep disorders have shown that clean, uncluttered bedrooms make for happy homes and a good night’s rest. A chaotic and cluttered bedroom makes you feel wired and tired. If you want sweet dreams, it’s time to reclaim your sanctuary by organizing your bedroom.
What’s the first place in your home that experts recommend you declutter and organize first? If you said the living room, kitchen or bathroom, guess again. It’s organizing your bedroom.
A lot of you get overwhelmed when it comes to organizing your bedroom.
Here is a scenario: The bed is unmade. There is a chair or treadmill in the corner covered with clothes. Your dresser is piled with books, DVDs, memorabilia from days gone by and scattered jewelry. The dresser drawers are so full that you can’t get them closed. Your nightstand is covered with magazines, books, lotions, nail polishes, tissues, remote controls, cell phone chargers, with a few legos here and there and last night’s glass of water. You trip over clothing, shoes, purses, shopping bags, toys and hangers that are littering the floor. You have no idea what is under the bed. Your expensive flat screen TV has “DUST ME” written on the screen. Not to mention the dirty clothes piled in the corner or the ironing board in the middle of the room. Now, let’s blow a big puff of dust in there with a few cobwebs in the corners, and you have the average, busy adult’s bedroom. If this is you, we definitely need to get you started organizing your bedroom!
No wonder we are so stressed!!!
Who knew by not organizing your bedroom would have an impact on our health!
Organizing your bedroom will help you to reclaim your sanctuary and your sanity.

Organizing Your Bedroom, Step One
Basics For Decluttering And Organizing Your Bedroom
Before you can begin organizing your bedroom, get your three sorting bins/totes: ORGANIZING BASICS and gather up everything that is scattered on the floor (including under the bed) and sort them accordingly. Continue on to the tops of your dressers, night stands, etc. Now that you have eliminated all of the visible clutter, take this time to thoroughly clean the room. There is no sense in pulling things out of the drawers until this is finished.
Organizing your bedroom or any room requires a purging process.
Organizing Your Bedroom Step Two:
Cleaning Is Essential When Organizing Your Bedroom
Why even start organizing your bedroom if you do not plan on cleaning it. Take my professional advice!! Save yourself some work and do your cleaning in the professional way: See: LEARN TO CLEAN LIKE A PROFESSIONAL These basic steps can help you if you were needing to know how to clean house or just simply organizing your bedroom.
This would be a good time to gather things from your keep bin that do not belong in your room and put them where they belong and empty the trash bin.
Now, I know we are talking about organizing your bedroom, but I
am going to get on my soap box just for a minute……
Would you like to know what the THREE DIRTIEST THINGS IN YOUR HOME are? Could one of them actually be in your bedroom?
Organizing Your Bedroom Step Three:
Organizing Your Bedroom Drawers
on the season, only keep the things in your dresser that you will use currently. For the seasonal items, check out this huge selection of under the bed storage
It is crucial when organizing your bedroom drawers that neatly folded items to go back into the drawers, such as t-shirts, make sure they are folded neatly and stacked according to color and style. I highly recommend this laundry folding board. If you do not bother to fold them properly, then organizing your bedroom drawers is pointless.
Every t-shirt or jean is folded the exact same size for neat stacking. You will love using this for all of you laundry folding. As you add things back into their new places, make sure you maximize and organized them to fit your needs. For example: You wouldn’t want to keep your socks and underwear in the top drawer of a highboy, unless of course you are 7 feet tall. Put your most used items in a logical easy to visualize locations.
Organizing Your Bedroom Step Four:
Organizing Your Bedroom Night Stand
Night stand: A night stand is a very important part of organizing your bedroom because it sees a lot of action. If we are not careful, our night stands will collect a lot of clutter. The following ideas are to help prevent the clutter by having a place for everything you need to keep there.
The top of your nightstand should only have a lamp, alarm clock, maybe a picture frame or an accessory. The top drawer needs to be the place that stores all of your bedtime necessities. Find some decorative baskets to place inside that will contain items such as, reading glasses, lotions, tissues, flashlight, and if you’re like me and have a snoring husband, a supply of ear plugs.
Leave room beside your basket(s) for a couple of your magazines, one book and or your journal. If you need to keep these things on top the nightstand, find a decorative box Decorative Boxes that works well with your décor that is not too large but large enough for things such as remote controls, cell phone, your glasses, etc. Something that I found that works well is to drill some holes in the back of the box big enough to run your phone charger wires. This way it is neatly stored away while charging, without all of those wires showing.
Follow the tips for organizing your bedroom in every room and you will have an organized home.
